Our client is a multinational manufacturing company, who planned to launch a new portfolio of specific products in Europe. Wyser helped them to find a senior Sales Manager, who started the sales and business development activity of the company’s flexible packaging portfolio Europewide.
Finding a new Sales Manager Europe
Wyser was looking for a sales professional for the company in Hungary, who could start the sales and business development activity of their flexible packaging portfolio, covering whole Europe scope. It was extremely important for the company to find a senior salesperson who has experience in this specific flexible packaging area, as she/he had to enter a very saturated market in Europe.
Headhunting / search methods
Wyser Hungary created and presented a detailed hiring strategy to the US based hiring manager and the UK HR manager, which included a broad advertising campaign and headhunting search activity (focusing on companies of similar size and product portfolio, with a strong emphasis on flexible packaging materials).
It was crucial that the shortlist had to include candidates possessing the following experience & background mix/portfolio: Commercial/Economics degree, 10+ years’ experience in sales and business development, regional sales scope (ideally covering 5+ countries) in the packaging industry, knowledge of flexible tapes/packaging products, with wide range of contacts within the industry, excellent communication skills and hunting sales attitude, with strategic thinking mindset and the ability to set up a GTM (Go-to-Market) strategy.
Wyser set a candidate generation timeline of 3 weeks, then another 2 weeks for 1st, 2nd round interviews along with an extensive online personality testing procedure for applicant(s) that made it to the 2ndround at least. Wyser successfully met the deadline, and presented a shortlist of 5 stand-out candidates to the client in 2 weeks. All 5 candidates were brought to 1st round interviews, 2 candidates made it to the 2nd round, 1 made it to the 3rd round and this candidate was successfully selected for the position.
Successful Placement
As a result of the consultants’ thorough research of the region’s packaging segment, it was confirmed to Wyser that the candidate who made it to the 3rd round and got the offer comes with a perfect background, with the desired industry focus, professional experience and strategic thinking mindset. Wyser assisted with the final selection by managing the offer to the chosen candidate, and providing detailed feedback to the ones who participated in the process. After 2 months of notice, the new Sales Manager joined our client and started to successfully build up the sales of the flexible packaging product portfolio in Europe, together with the US based Global Sales Director.
