Our partner is an innovative, leading European pet food company, producing branded pet food
and own-label products for retailers.
Scope
The Strategic Financial Controller provides support in the field of finance to the whole
Commercial organization as well as to the CFO. Ensures deep understanding of planned and
actual financial performance and it’s key drivers. Provides timely and accurate management
information to support all levels of management for decision-making. Actively participates in
commercial projects. Ensures accurate and on time information on any commercial related
spend or investment (CAPEX/OPEX) evaluates ROI of activities and supports decision by
financial justification. Analyzes and presents to stakeholders long- and short-term trends
impacting the financial performance of the company. Delivers insights and drives initiatives that
enable delivery of yearly profit targets and long-term strategic goals. Takes active role during
the closing/forecasting cycle by proactively engaging budget holders and accounting teams as
well as anticipates future impacts to be considered.
Responsibilities
• Analyzes, presents and aligns the financial effects of commercial plans to align plans with
short- and long-term financial targets
• Gathers and challenges constructively the inputs for planning cycles (IBP, Budget,
PF, etc.), giving insightful analysis on planning outputs to influence long and shortterm
plans.
• Contributes to the pre-calculation of commercial activities by highlighting the
business and financial contribution of planned activities, including promotions.
• Supports decision making through financial evaluation of commercial
plans/activities, finding and assessing alternative scenarios, and delivering
information on funds available.
• Translates business needs to FP&A team regarding planning tools
• Monitors, analyzes, and presents the financial effects of commercial decisions to enable
delivery of short- and long-term financial and business goals
• Ensures that profitability by customers / channels / categories and cost centers are
transparent, in-line with business needs / strategy and available for further
management decision.
• Delivers analysis on financial performance linking and highlighting key commercial
drivers impacting the delivery of revenue, profit targets both on the short and long
term.
• Delivers complex and insightful ROI analysis on key commercial activities including financial and non-financial KPIs.
• Maintains an effective reporting landscape, proactively adopts it to new requirements
• Translates business needs to FP&A team regarding reporting. Manages ad-hoc reporting within the team.
• Ensures delivery of commercial Financial KPIs
• Keeps track of budgets and potential business opps/risks and their financial impact.
• Finds opportunities and drives initiatives with commercial teams to deliver financial targets
• Develops the Finance team members to proactively support the business with accurate and relevant financial analysis and motivates them to raise initiatives proactively that could serve the company
• Aligns goals with company strategy and finance team goals and monitor its delivery
• Pursues financial best practices, by consistently reviewing gaps and agreeing a road map to achieve improvements.
• Develop team’s skills to ensure high level support to business. Creates IDP for team-members to improve skills and capabilities
• Discusses potential business improvement areas, evaluates, prioritizes and escalates key Team initiatives
• Defines priority roadmap and contribution to operative and strategic discussions
• Improves Finance awareness in the Commerce Function, drives initiatives to improve the effectiveness and reduce complexity in various fields (P&R, processes, etc)
